Grandmillennial interiors are having a moment, and we’ve seen no better example locally than this North Sydney home designed by Lisa Burdus.
Lisa has long had an affinity for this English-inspired aesthetic, as influenced by her English father and mum who decorated in this style. ‘I love to use English fabrics and antiques in our schemes and love the layering that is found in traditional English design,’ she says.
Also inspiring this particular home was the client’s recent travels to Morocco, which influenced the colour palette. ‘She wanted a bright, fun, colourful “party” house,’ Lisa says. ‘I wanted it to be fun and fearless to reflect my client’s personality.’
That being said, even the client found the pink paint colour used on the lower ground floor ‘rather terrifying’ at first glance! ‘I did assure her that it was just paint and could be changed, but to wait until the layers of art and curtains went up before making a decision,’ Lisa says. ‘Luckily she loved it as much as I did, and most importantly she had complete trust in what I was doing.’
Other colours in the bold colour scheme include Dulux Alluvial Inca, Dulux Purslane, and printed wallpaper from Osborne & Little.

‘I love the boldness of the colours and the feel of the home when you are in it,’ says Lisa of the finished product.
‘I spent an evening with my client when the project was complete. We had the fire on and all of the candles lit, and it really had a great feel and atmosphere. That’s what I strive to achieve with all of our projects.’
