The current owners of 1 Gray Street, Brunswick have barely lifted a finger since moving in 10 years ago – a testament to the property’s low-maintenance, timeless design!

Behind the picture-perfect Victorian facade lies a deceivingly spacious floor plan, with three bedrooms and two living areas.

Every inch of space has been thoughtfully utilised thanks to a previous renovation by Stuart Harrison of Harrison and White, former host of Restoration Australia and ‘The Architects’ radio show on 3RRR. The cleverly angled floor plan now contains skylights and high windows on either side of the freestanding home, inviting both northern and southern into almost every room.

‘The moment we walked through the front door we knew this was where we wanted to live. [We love] the natural light, the originality of the design (the angles!), and the conversation between house and garden,’ say the current owners.

The young family have particularly appreciated the home’s flexibility, especially the front room’s bespoke blackbutt cabinetry that converts from a two-desk office into a living and music room. There’s even a concealed piano keyboard!

‘With all of us working and learning from home during lockdowns, it’s been wonderful to be able to close up the desks, slide across the panels and feel like we’ve come home for the evening,’ say the owners.

These modern capabilities sit alongside original Victorian features including pressed metal ceilings and Baltic pine floorboards.

The kitchen sits at the literal centre of the home, followed by the open-plan living area. Sliding glass doors open to reveal the private easy-care garden with a hidden cubby area and glorious fig tree.

Last not least, the location! Three parks (Royal Park, Gillbrook Reserve, and Temple Park) are all within 300 metres of the home, and supermarkets, cafes, trains, and trams can all be reached on foot in 10 minutes.

1 Gray Street, Brunswick VIC  is being sold by Carl Sacco and Daniel Carusi at Nelson Alexander via auction on Saturday November 27 at 1.30pm. For more information, see the full listing
